− | For British Art Show 8 we harvest copyright-expired chart hit records from 1962, the last retrievable from the public domain until 2034 due to legal revisions. Hacking emerging informational retrieval technologies, we strip away proprietary elements to generate a 'public sonic inventory' which provides a soundtrack for a new audio-visual work, assembled during the exhibition tour.

− | The project contributes to Open Music Archive, our ongoing work to source, digitise and distribute out-of-copyright archive material and to spark collaborative activity through exhibitions, films and live events. The work is situated at the intersection of art, music and information networks and critically engages with modes of circulation and their related legal and economic systems.
