Icon Unknown Status.jpg Track 37: Columbus Fruge - Saut Crapaud Victor 22184-A; Recorded in Memphis, Tennessee, 18.9.1929

No image of record label available. Harry Smith's Anthology booklet does not assign authorship, nor does www.78discography.com. However, victor.library.ucsb.edu assigns authorship to Columbus Fruge.

According to this post on a forum: [1], Columbus Fruge lived until at least 1981, which would put this composition in copyright until at least 1st January 2052.

However, Harry Smith's Anthology booklet calls this tune, "Possibly the most widely known of any Arcadian dance tune," while the Anthology reissue booklet calls it "a popular Cajun folk song".

There are some grounds for treating this composition as public domain.
