According to the Where Dead Voices Gather blog, "'Present Joys' was first published in the Sacred Harp songbook in 1908. The tune was composed by A. Marcus Cagle with lyrics by Joseph Cottle."

According to wikipedia, Cottle died in 1853 while wikipedia gives 1968 as Cagle's death date.

This implies that the copyright status of this composition is divided as its lyrics public domain, while the melody is in copyright until 1st January 2039.
